Weekend Ride, March 9th Sunday

Hi everybody!

After the successful completion of our first training ride for this season, we are officially on our way to Portland! (metaphorically speaking, of course). Our ride this week will take us into the picturesque township of Kenmore along the idyllic WA route 522 (who am I kidding, right?)

We will begin our ride from the Eastern parking lot of Marymoor Park at 9:00 AM on Sunday March 9th, and ride along the Sammamish River trail for about 12 miles. We will pass our last week's destination at Woodenville on the way. The half-way point lies 4 miles from Woodenville on the Burke-Gillman Trail.  Our destination is the "Log Boom Park."  After a short break, we will return to Marymoor park using the same trail. Here is a Google Map of our route.

Weather Update & Tips:
  • The weather forecast for Kenmore, WA currently shows showers in early morning with temperatures in high 40s to low 50s.
  • Make sure you have rain-repelling jackets and carry a change of clothes in the car to get into warm and dry clothing once we get back.
  • Carry at least one bottle of water with you and keep your hydration level steady. We should drink water at regular intervals on our bikes. You should drink one 10-12 fluid oz per hour of biking.
  • Carry a couple of energy bars (similar to the ones we enjoyed last week) for replenishing vital energy.
  • Follow trail-riding etiquette - give out passing calls ("On your left") loud enough for other users to hear, allow other (faster) bikers to pass you without swerving in their way, keep to a single file as much as possible.
We will start the ride at 9:00 AM sharp, so make sure you arrive at the parking lot with some buffer to spare for mechanical issues, questions, last minute check ups etc. :)

Veteran riders - Make sure to bring the new Asha Jerseys with you for the new riders to try on.

Hoping to see you all there!
